Informative and incredibly useful, the drills are challenging and keep things interesting, especially if youre like me and need a lot of help with developing your relative pitch
Good
I have a Doctorate in music performance and graduated with a weak ability in ear training. This app has improved my comprehension and discernment of music immensely. I do other ear training work as well, but this is a nice supplement to my over all ear-training program.
As a player of many genres - ear training is vital. Although this is excellent I feel there is a limit. Adding transcriptions of short melodies and chord progressions would make this five stars for me.
Basically this is a great app. But it would be better if all the buttons are at more comfortable places. Like A at left and B at right, so when I hold ipad with two hands I can use my thumbs to tap all the buttons. The keyboard occupies too much room, it is not very useful. Most of the time I just close my eyes to help me concentrate. So the AB buttons should be bigger, as well as the next button and replay button.
This app has a wonderfully expansive and thorough set of ear-training exercises. It’s also very easy-to-use. I honestly can’t imagine a better app for ear training. My only complaint is that I wish it had more exercises for identifying chord progressions (deceptive cadence, Phrygian half-cadence, Neapolitan, Fr. vs. Gr. vs. It. aug6, deceptively resolved aug6, enharmonically resolved fully diminished 7, etc.).
Great app! Many a musician has told me over the years that ear training is crucial and I am really taking it seriously. I would really love to see it expanded to include the study of modes.
This app is awesome. If you want to improve your ear, this is probably the fastest and most affordable way as far as technology goes. Stick to it and get 100 on every exercise.
Amazing app for training your ear.
Yes listening to the difference of minor and major 3rd is the braking challenge, but thats the path to a Better understanding of music, its all about the tension!
A useful tool, but the harmonies are piss poor. Makes it difficult to hear the relationship between simultaneously played notes.
The title says it all. This app is loaded with simple to complex exercises to help you identify pitches, intervals, and scales. The interface is easy to use and you can track your progress. $7 is a small price to pay for such an in depth app.
I have been using this app every day for just about a year now and the results are simply amazing. I went from struggling to recognizing intervals, to being able to hear them and identify them immediately. This app. is probably the best investment Ive made. I just wish there was a way I could keep track of my progress and maybe even challenge friends to an interval recognizing match. That would be awesome!
Ive moved beyond identifying two notes at a time and Im glad to have the melody feature. Id like to see an option to have the delete button available the first time. As soon as I know I hit a wrong note, I have to finish out the melody incorrectly, and then after clicking retry I have to delete each note one at a time. Thats very cumbersome. Also I was hoping that chord progression recognition would be more involved. This is more about giving suggestions than a review. As an app this will be very useful to anyone who buys it. Id give it 5 stars if these issues were addressed.
Quick and easy Nice tool for ears
not bad
Great app though Im not very far so everything Ive done is easy they need to make an absolute pitch app like this one
I like this app a lot. Easy to use and understand. I teach ear training classes and of all the apps Ive checked out this one fits best with my teaching style.
I like the sheer depth of this app, however the piano sounds bad. The guitar sounds worse. I have pretty good ears as I have used a great number if virtual instruments in depth. I am a very good mixing engineer. I am not a piano player, but I know what a real piano sounds like. There is key noise, resonance, reverberation, but this piano has none of that. It makes it very difficult to detect minute vibration gaps in any musical sense. I wish I could give this program 5 stars, but the instruments are simply pathetic sounding. The developers need to go back and record a real piano.
