Awesome ear training app *****

One of the most in depth apps out there for ear training and a easy to use interface. You can even make your own exercises. I wish you could undo a note entry in the melodic exercises, a lot of the times iv just pressed the wrong note because of my fat fingers but I guess it’s part of the challenge to not make a mistake(wish you could change it in the settings or something). Still a must buy for ear training.

You guys deserve 1000000 stars thank you

Everything You Need ****

It took a while for me to appreciate this app. It wasnt until I had a bit of ear training done that I could see the limitations in other apps and how this one would take me further and teach more of what I could actually use versus simpler apps. Once I could hear intervals up to an octave and major vs minor chords, this app had plenty more for me to study. Great app.

Pros and cons of Ear Trainer app for iPhone and iPad

Ear Trainer app good for

Very nice app. Would be even better if it would allow to create custom exercises, like choosing which chord categories to recognize.
If you like ear traning dont hesitate, this app is really well done, bravo to its developpers.
Great app for ear and skill training. But some points could be improved: - a better interface design. A little bit oldschool. - a random selection of exercices for everyday training. E.g. If you spend 10 min a day, the app selects various exercices based on your skills and achievements.
This app is really great, it offers so many exercises, and they really really help improve ear skills. I tested many other apps about ear training and this one is the absolute best. The only problem is that it lacks quality sound : the piano sound is really bad and they should add something like a good violin sound, it would really make it the perfect app.
Great design, equally suited for both music students and amateurs.
Good ear training method. It takes you from a beginner to a more advanced user in simple and progressive steps, recommending not going on to the next exercice or going back to a previous one until one has mastered the present exercise. Good value for the price.

Some bad moments

This app needs improvement. You cant customize the exercises so if you want to listen to triad inversions PLUS dominant inversions, well you cant. You take what they give you and its one or the other. During interval listening, they give you only 6 choices out of however many possible answers there are. Why not just give us all the options? Also I wanted to listen to 9th and 11th chords, but I guess we can only hear basic triads and six/seventh chords. Hundreds of exercises and theyre pretty much all the same. Oh and the statistics feature is underwhelming too as it only keeps track of your last result, so unfortunately you cant see a history of improvement over time. The sound clips are great though and with a bit of work this app could be amazing, but for 7$ I expected more.
I dont know why the named this app Ear Trainer because this app does not teach you how to identify interval, chords, etc. All it does is TEST your ears. They should call it Ear Tester. Very deceitful. You will have to learn the skill of note, interval, chord, etc identification with something else then use this app to endlessly TEST yourself.
I was really excited to download this program and was enjoying the process till it came to trying to hear the difference between a minor, or major 3rd on iPhone speakers. I get the impression that the app designers are enjoying the frustration they are inflicting. Not only do you have to try and hear a half step difference between the intervals 3-4 octaves apart, they seem to make most of the exercises "colored" by making the major chords end on black keys sounding dark, and minor ones sound more major by the notes they chose, and theres no way to get better at it. I breezed thru most of the other exercises, but this one Im actually getting worse results with every run thru. Its all I can do to not smash my phone. Also, nothing very fun about the app. I thought there would be some game play. Not. Very cut and dry.
I love this app but there is one major flaw that needs to be addressed before I change my rating. The Minor Tenth and Major Tenth are both recognized as minor in a number of the interval training exercises! It is an error. Please fix this problem because this app is great otherwise!!
I was playing the game and I came across that the notes do not match. For example, the notes could be C,D, and C# but what they say is the note is E, F and Eb. Its highly annoying.
